On January 1, 2020, the Federal Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act came into effect in Alberta, resulting in a carbon levy charged on fuel and combustible waste. On March 15, 2025, the Government of Canada made regulations that cease the application of the federal fuel charge. As a result, the federal fuel charge on natural gas has decreased from $4.10/GJ to $0.00/GJ effective April 1, 2025. For more information, please click HERE
