After undertaking a comprehensive recruitment process with the assistance of Transitional Solutions Inc., the County of Vermilion River Council is pleased to announce that Harold Northcott will be joining the organization as its Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) on Tuesday, September 3, 2019.
We welcome Harold to the County of Vermilion River team and look forward to his progressive leadership style and commitment to customer service. Harold brings to the organization experience as a Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) in a number of both rural and urban communities, a strong background in the people services sector of municipal government, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Community Services. He has also attained his professional designation as a Certified Local Government Manager (CLGM) through the Society of Local Government Managers of Alberta.
Harold is also well known for his involvement with baseball over the years having served as the Provincial Head Coach for the Alberta Amateur Baseball Council and as Head Coach for baseball teams attending the Canada Games and Canada Cup. Harold was a member of Canada’s national baseball team both as a player and a coach. As a player he was a starting pitcher when playing in the Intercontinental Cup and the Pan American games. The Town of Rocky Mountain House, where he served as Recreation Director, named a baseball diamond in his honor to recognize his many years of contribution to the sport.
Both Harold and his wife Barb grew up on farms and they are looking forward to living in one of the County of Vermilion River communities.
Harold stated he is very excited to start working for the County of Vermilion River and moving to the area with his wife Barb.
