At the March 14th, 2023, meeting of County of Vermilion River Council, Bylaw #19-07 relating to Dog Control, was rescinded. Effective immediately, the Protective Services Department will no longer be handling any dog related concerns, which may include strays, dogs at large, excessive barking and dog-on-animal (pets and livestock)attacks.

Any active case files will be finalized by March 31st. We thank our Dog Contractor for his diligent and steadfast work over the last year and wish him the best in his future endeavours.

Our Peace Officers will continue to enforce Provincial legislation as it pertains to the Dangerous Dog Act and continue to assist the Alberta SPCA when requested.

The County will continue their support for animal welfare through the annual Border Paws Society (Lloydminster) grant.
