Enforcement Services - COVID-19 Update - To protect health and safety of Albertans, law enforcement agencies now have full authority to enforce public health orders and issue fines for violations.

New law is in place for the use of helmets while operating an Off-Highway Vehicle (May 15, 2017).  Read more here.

The County of Vermilion River Enforcement Services Program was introduced in 2013 with the hiring of two Community Peace Officers and one Administrative Assistant. The Peace Officers are responsible for enforcing Provincial Legislations and Regulations as well as investigating, and, if necessary, enforcing County Bylaws.

The County of Vermilion River Enforcement Services Program has been authorized by the Justice and Solicitor General. Peace Officers must abide by the procedures as listed in the Alberta Peace Officer Act

The County of Vermilion River also employs a dog control officer on a contract basis. The dog control officer is responsible for monitoring and investigating dog complaints from County residents, as well as enforcing action, if necessary, in accordance with the Dog Control Bylaw.
