Congratulations are in order for the management and staff of the Vermilion Waste Transfer site who received an award recognizing their efforts in maintaining and operating the facility.

The organization was presented with Collection Site of Excellence award by the Alberta Waste Management Recycling Authority in November, 2010. The award was one of three given and was in the area of collecting electronic waste for recycling.

Follow Instructions of the Supervisor for Segregation of  Waste

Special Provisions:

  • Major construction/demolition debris requires special authorization from the Authority. Segregation; a fee may be assessed.
  • Non-residential tipping fees apply
  • Out of hours access fee of $30 for up to 3 hours will be charged.
  • Plasterboard/gyp rock and shingles must be taken to the Vermilion Transfer Station
  • For concrete disposal, call (780) 846-2832. Triple rinsed containers are accepted at all transfer stations, except Kitscoty.

The Schedule For The Collection Of Residential Waste Will Be As Follows:

  • EACH WEDNESDAY
    Blackfoot - Commencing Approx. 12:00 Noon
    Islay - Commencing Approx. 1:30 P.M.

  • EACH THURSDAY
    Kitscoty - Commencing Approx. 7:00 A.M.
    Marwayne - Commencing Approx. 10:00 A.M.
    Clandonald - Commencing Approx. 12:00 Noon

As the times on this schedule are approximate. Please be certain to have your bins at the curb ready for pick up by 7:00 a.m. on pick up day.

NOTE:A number of the unacceptable wastes will be accepted at the Vermilion Landfill.

All construction waste must be taken to the Vermilion Waste Transfer Site.

  1. E-Waste (computers, computer peripherals, televisions, printers)
  2. Used Paint and Paint cans up to 23 litre size
  3. Small Household Hazardous Waste



                             Some Things You Should Know

  1. There is no charge for any of the above products to rate payers within the region.
  2. Contractors within the region must use the Vermilion Transfer Site for their waste and the charge is $90/mT for those located within the region.
  3. Large amounts of building materials such as shingles and siding  should be taken to the Vermilion Transfer Site.  There is no charge for rate payers for building materials as long as they are from personal dwellings.
  4. As of May 1, 2011 we are asking all those who bring vinyl siding into Vermilion must have the pieces cut in four foot lengths.  This includes both contractors and rate payers.

A tipping fee will apply to users who are not residents of the County of Vermilion River or the Town of Vermilion.
